Drum Rhythms of the Haitian Vodou Tradition with Ryan Anderson at the Pavilion

Ryan Anderson will teach some drum rhythms of the Haitian Vodou tradition (more like a demonstration as certain drums are used and I don't imagine there will be many if any of these types of drums present). So I'll play some rhythms, have a dancer doing the dance that accompany each rhythm.

People are still encouraged to participate, there are a few parts where djembes and such can be used. The purpose of these rhythms is to creat a trance state thus inviting the Lwa (spirit) to arrive.

Shamanic Journeying with Ryan Anderson at the Pavilion
Join Ryan has he guides you with a shamanic journey.

How to Re-Head a Djembe - Shorty Palmer at the Pavilion

Learn how to replace a goatskin head on a djembe or similar rope tuned drum. All aspects of drum building and tuning will be explained and discussed. Includes applying a presoaked skin, stringing and tightening verticals, and pulling diamonds. See a sample at this link http://www.filmbaby.com/films/582

Yoga with Sandy Palmer on Stage

Stretch out your body and relax your mind with some gentle yoga stretches and Vinyasa. Sooth sore muscles and prepare them for dancing and drumming. Workshop consists of warm-up stretches, Vinyasa, and winds up with a relaxing meditation (Yoga Nidra).

Drum Circle Etiquette class with Dragon Bob at the Pavilion

History of drum, care of the drum, tuning the drum, How to play the drum, courtesy at a drum circle, performance at a drum circle, having fun at a drum circle, and playing the drum.

Once Upon A Rhythm Time. For kids, large and small with Dragon Bob at the Pavilion

Geared to children, but all are welcome. Brief history, types of drums, How to play the drum, short stories, audience participation game, and rhythm time (percussion provided). Puppets help tell stories, teacher is costumed, and show is all inclusive.

Beginning and Intermediate Hoop Workshop with Willow at the Drum Shelter

All are welcome to join us for this workshop, Willow will show the basic and then more advanced techniques for spinning the age-classic toy, the Hula Hoop. Please join us and feel free to come with questions about any moves you have seen or would like to learn. Practice hoops will be provided for those who do not own one.

A drum fun-rhythm workshop with Bob Laake at the Pavilion

In this workshop Bob will cover some basic hand positions and playing areas of the Djembe. Especially good info for beginners. Seasoned drummers will also enjoy that along with the beginner stuff a few quick easy rhythms will be taught to form an all inclusive beginner and seasoned 3 part drum rhythm With that our drum community will play and support different parts to make one fun vibe. Some few extra Djembe’s will be available to play if you don’t have one OR if you are just a drum less beginner and wish to participate OR even if you have never drummed before and want to.

NOW’s the time! This is fun for all. Come and Join us. See you there

Temple and Ritual Dance Workshop - Temple and Ritual Dance in the evening with Laurelei at the Main Fire/Drum Shelter

In this 2-hour class, learn the basic shapes made by the body in traditional bellydance, discuss the differences between stage performance and temple dance, and practice moving energy through the body to create ritual modes of movement.

This class is open to anyone (male or female) who is willing to try to dance. Movement and dance are often based in experimentation and practice, much like magick. Since this class features BOTH, an audience would likely be unsettling for beginners.

Please bring plenty of water and a towel to sit on. Wear comfy shoes (or none at all).
